4th Annual Sturgis Falls Car Show - June 28, 2009
My Turbo Regal second place in Street Machines Modified 1975 - present

Sturgis Falls 2009 was held at Island Park in Cedar Falls on July 28, 2009. The weather was beautiful, but a little windy. Since it was so close to the river, there was a lot of dust in the air which kept people busy with the California Car Dusters. There was a record turnout of 336 cars at this event and it was quite a show. My favorite car at this show was a gold 1961 Chevrolet Impala with a white leather interior. The paint was the most amazing piece of work I had ever seen. It was just, for lack of a better word, perfect.

My class, Street Machines Modified 1975 - Present had pretty much the same cars as always. The TR took second place to a very nice black 1986 Monte Carlo SS owned by Randy Stymel. I didn't feel too bad because he is a really nice guy and he had taken second to me in the last several shows we had both entered. Congratulations, Randy!

The car show was run pretty well, but I would have preferred having it at the UNI Dome parking lot like last year. With only one way out, you can imagine the great fun that was had when all 336 cars tried to leave at the same time. The other bad thing was, with the wind, there were leaves and branches falling from trees hitting the cars. I know my car is three times as dirty now as it was when I entered the show with all of the dust and debris blowing around.
